The good news is giving to Environment/Animals increased in 2016 by 7.2% for a total of $11.5 billion dollars.  This was the largest gain in any subsector, outpacing growth in overall giving for the last two years.

The bad news is that animals still do not have their own classification as they are categorized with Environmental causes. They are the lowest sector to receive donations; which is bizzare considering a combined 70% of all households own at least one cat or a dog; according to the HUSU.
